Football Season

When it comes to football games and tailgates Chi Phi does not hold back. For tailgating, we have one of the premier spots on campus. Located right behind Parker Hall and a brief walk to the stadium, our pregame party starts every gameday morning at 9 A.M. with food, beverage and music. When kick-off rolls around and it's time to get in our seats Chi Phi annually has some of the finest seats in the fraternity section. With a strong emphasis on being one of the top fraternities in Spirit (rank in spirit determines the order in which fraternities choose their sections), year in and year out we have some of the best seats in the house. Also, when it comes to away games, Chi Phi travels in full force. Many of the brothers caravan it out to all the away games year in year out, whether it be to Tuscaloosa or Fayetteville, the Mu Delta chapter has brothers attending every game. Even the brothers that decide not to travel to the games gather at the fraternity house, set up stadium seating with the couches and watch the game together.

Rush / Pledging

For all fraternities at Auburn University, including Chi Phi, the informal rush process begins in June of every summer. Informal recruitment events include Braves games, lake trips, cookouts, crawfish boils, etc. Formal rush is usually 4 days of complete formal recruitment that starts shortly after class begins, where all brothers and potential new members meet at the fraternity house in formal attire.

Fall pledgeship for Chi Phi is extremely exciting and eventful. Not only are there over 12 swaps for this incoming fall pledge class for 2011, but there are so many other events that take place. Swaps are themed parties with sorority pledge classes. Many of the swaps that Chi Phi offers have been tradition for many years; e.g. for the past 10 years we have always had a pledge swap with Phi Mu, AOPi, Delta Zeta, Sigma Kappa and Alpha Gamma Delta. All potential new members may also attend all home football games with the Chi Phi brotherhood and may attend Fall Formal as well (see below).

Formal

Every year, formal is one of the most anticipated events of the year. Each year, the chapter collectively determines a location where we want to hold this event. Every fall, we go all out by making weekend trips out to larger cities like New Orleans, Charleston, Savannah or Atlanta. We rent out coach buses to ensure that everyone travels safe and head out to the city of choice. Also, on the trip is the actual formal itself where a location, whether it is a rooftop bar, or a large event center, is rented out for the night along with a band and catered food. Formals are a great way of getting off campus to have a good time with the majority of the brotherhood and their dates.

Halloween Party

Chi Phi Halloween Party has been an annual event since our starting. We always have loud music, whether it be a band or DJ and it is also a brotherhood function where bringing a date is required. Halloween party is known to be one of the most fun and entertaining because it is at our fraternity house (which is very old), but the spooky basement is quickly turned into a night club while each floor is made a different theme. Last year's them was Heaven and Hell. The 3rd floor and highest part of the house was made into a heaven like area while the basement was turned into a complete floor of spooky darkness and full of evil characters and scary decorations.

Christmas Party

Chi Phi Christmas Party is one of the most famous events that the fraternity holds. Not only is it tacky, but most brothers wear the most ridiculous Christmas sweaters you have ever seen. It is a required date event where all brothers and their dates socialize and gather at the fraternity house. In addition, one brother is always voted to be Santa Clause and one brother is always voted to be his elf. Throughout Christmas Party poems are read where brothers may insult other brothers, their dates, and past events that occurred in order to completely embarrass them if they so please -– they usually do. We're no Walt Whitmans, but we throw a pretty good poetry slam. At the end of Christmas Party it has been tradition since the early 1990's that Santa Claus jump the Christmas tree into the front yard; landing in the bushes if he's lucky.

Mountain Weekend

Mountain Weekend is an event completely started by Chi Phi on Auburns campus. This is an event that NO other fraternity on Auburns campus does. For the past several years all Chi Phi brothers have paid a small amount to rent a large house in the mountains for a weekend. All brothers bring dates and road trip up to the mountains of Tennessee in order to have a weekend of fun, bonding, and entertainment. All of the brothers dates are required to make coolers for them and paint them with different designs. We look forward to this event as it is a good excuse to get out of Auburn and relax for a weekend in the great outdoors.

King Party

Chi Phi King Party is the largest spring party that Chi Phi has had annually since the Mu Delta Chapter began at Auburn University. Every spring semester, usually in late March/early April the brothers come together one last time before finals to celebrate the year and the chapters successes by having a 4 day party featuring many bands, events, etc. For years the chapter has average 3 or 4 band parties per King Party, among other events. We do it big for King Party, surrounding the yard in bamboo and decorating the house as well as the yard. Hawaiian shirts are encouraged. Wednesday through Friday are band parties and events for the general public, where anyone is free to attend. Saturday is a day party where it is completely closed to the public; only brothers are allowed to attend along with their dates and friends. Saturday is when we break out the blow up pools and have a crawfish/shrimp broil and really enjoy ourselves.

Casino Night

Casino Night is an event held at Chi Phi's house every spring semester. It is a formal gathering where all brothers dress up and bring dates to basically hit the strip, just that the strip is our main room. There are always a wide array of casino games to choose from such as Poker, Blackjack, Roulette with a few more as well. The event is always a great time and the top 5 couples in chips win special prizes such as money, a paid dinner for two, etc. This is only one of the few exclusive gatherings to our fraternity that we hold each year, and we always look forward to it. After all, doesn't everybody need an excuse to rent a tux once in a while?

Rodeo

Rodeo is always the first weekend in April hosted by the veterinary fraternity called Alpha Psi. It is the largest philanthropic event at Auburn University and it has also become the largest social event in Auburn every spring semester. It is a giant rodeo where all students dress in redneck/country attire and hang out for the day with just about every student in Auburn and other surrounding areas, then at the end attend a large concert usually from a country star. In past years Alpha Psi's rodeo has hosted Blake Shelton, Cross Canadian Ragweed and also Joe Diffie. Chi Phi always has a trailer right next to the rodeo arena for some of the best seats in the... field.
